Madison Roth IF Fellow
Hi! My name is Madison Roth and I am a senior at Sheboygan North High School.
For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with writing. I find solace in being able to express my thoughts and ideas however I choose to. I also believe that anyone is capable of changing the world, which is what I want to do. This is why I am drawn to journalism. Words have the power to make a change or evoke change.
I know this is true because I am the captain of the Forensics team at my school. Throughout my time on the team, I have heard plenty of powerful pieces that I moved me and have made me make my own personal changes to my life. Our words impact those around us.
This year, I am doing my Innovator Fellowship project on drug abuse, specifically heroin, around Sheboygan. I am going to create a magazine and take pictures as well. I will conduct interviews will all different kinds of people to get all perspectives of drug abuse. There has to be more awareness for drug abuse in Sheboygan, and my magazine is the perfect way to do this.
I am excited to be apart of Jakes!
